SAP PP – MPS and Long-Term Planning

Master Production Scheduling
1) MRP types > MRP procedure = M – Master production scheduling
2) MMR MRP 1 > MRP type

MPR generates the following:
Planned orders for planned independent requirements of master schedule items
Dependent requirements of components below

MRP generates the planned orders for the dependent requirements
Check Process MRP materials in total planning to automatically run MRP after MPS

Long-Term Planning
To exclude BOM item from long-term planning
1) Define explosion types > LTP off
2) BOM item > explosion type

Consumption-Based Materials
Replenished when stock falls below reorder point

Forecast-Based Planning
Replenished when forecast for future consumption requirements are not covered

In long-term planning, dependent requirements created for consumption-based materials, bulk material and KANBAN materials as though they were planned using MRP

Planning Scenario
1) Create and release planning scenario
Long-term planning
Gross long-term planning
Short-term simulation

Opening stock
Zero stock, safety stock, plant stock, average plant stock
Dep.reqmts for reorder point materials
Whether dependent requirements generated for consumption-based materials, KANBAN materials, bulk material
Include firm recpts
Purchase orders, production orders, material reservations
Active version

Consider sales orders (cannot be changed)
Switch off planning time fence
Use gross lot size (whether LTP should be executed as gross requirements planning)
Use direct production (whether to create a collective order for materials produced directly, only header order can be changed)
Use make-to-order and project planning (whether MTO should be executed for materials in the corresponding strategy)
Switch off scrap calculation
Include firm purchase requisitions (copy from operative MRP, cannot be changed)
Include firm planned orders (copy from operative MRP, can be changed)
BOM selection ID
Long-term planning BOM

2) Assign plant
3) Assign PIR version

Special long-term planning routing
Define scheduling p arameters for planned orders > Long-term planning/simulation

Special long-term planning BOM
Create planning scenario > BOM selection ID

Transferring firmed planned orders from operative planning to simulative long-term planning
All firmed and not firmed planned orders in simulative planning within the copying period are deleted
Firmed planned orders copied from operative planning to simulative planning

Activate PIR version
1) Set PIR active indicator
2) Activate independent requirements in planning scenario
From source to target (active), planned independent requirements in overlapping periods are overwritten

Transferring firmed planned orders from simulative long-term planning to operative planning
All firmed and not firmed planned orders in operative planning within the copying period are deleted
Firmed planned orders copied from simulative planning to operative planning
To avoid double procurement, convert planned orders in operative planning to purchase orders and include firmed receipts in planning scenario

Transferring firmed planned orders from simulative long-term planning to operative planning for externally procured materials
Set Create Purchase Requisition and Schedule Lines accordingly
Set scheduling agreement item as relevant to MRP
All not firmed purchase requisitions and schedule lines in operative planning within the copying period are deleted
Purchase requisitions and schedule lines created are copied from simulative planning to operative planning
Firmed purchase requisitions and schedule lines remain in operative planning
To avoid double purchase requisitions or schedule lines, include all firmed receipts in planning scenario
